J. Dakar

As you read this, I’m probably sitting on a plane on my way home from still in New Orleans, after attending this year’s Essence Music Festival.

If you follow me on Twitter, you were able to stay up-to-date with my recent happenings. However, I can’t say the same if you’ve visited JDakar over the last few days.

If you ever visit New Orleans, I highly recommend you check out the International House. I had a great time, which means I didn’t have much time to update even prior to departing.

This trip was not the only reason I haven’t published a “real” entry in the last few days. I am in the process of moving (cues Patti LaBelle & Michael McDonald’s “On My Own”). It’s been six months since I moved back in to my parents’ house while I finished my last couple months of college. Now that I’ve graduated, I’ve had time to find a place of my own and it’s even better than the apartment I had before: two bedrooms, one bath plus a balcony (with privacy)…you should know by now how much I like balconies. I kid…I kid! But I am excited about getting in to my new place. It’s time I put all that HGTV watching to good use.

But there’s more! I have a new job, as well. I’m actually supposed to start tomorrow, but I don’t know how that’s going to happen since I missed my flight and am still in New Orleans. I should have waited to start next week after the move was complete and everything, but it’s all good. I’ll manage; I always do. Plus, although I can’t say much about it, it’s not like I’ll be sitting in an office from nine to five.

That explains why my entries have been a bit sporadic: New Orleans, a new place and a new job. Rest assured, though, I’ll settle back into the swing of things soon and get back on track.
